What's New.....

Food Glorious Food!

Eating out is great. To leave the cooking and the dishes to someone and just sit back and relax is surely the ultimate indulgence. Most of us who eat out have our favourite haunts, where we feel comfortable, the food is good, and the service meets our expectations.  Occasionally, of course, we need to try something new. Trying a new restaurant can be great fun - but can also be a bit of a challenge, especially if you are out of town.   Choosing a restaurant can involve a great many considerations. Food type, convenience, the quality of the food and cost are all important aspects in the decision.  Some restaurants are offering special menus and/or discounts to participants to the games.  Visitors to the Comox Valley and Campbell River may be overwhelmed with the options and choices.  Organizers want to help.

Ease into the Island Spirit

Whether you are a games rookie or a seasoned pro, participating in a large sporting event such as  the BC Seniors games can be daunting at times.  Once participants get to the games and have settled in, there are still many things to do and to remember to prepare to have a great games experience.

Organizers would like to remind participants that it is essential that for accreditation you bring personal identification.  Once you receive your 2010 Games Identification at accreditation you MUST bring your 2010 Games ID with you to your event and to the special events.  This will ensure that games participants will recieve all of their benefits. What other things should participants do or carry with them during the games?  To help ease into the games, participants may wish to review the following helpful suggestions.

Invest in the 2010 Games

Make an investment into the games and buy a raffle ticket for your chance to own an original painting by internationally renowned Island Artist Brian Scott.  Recently Brian Scott donated an original 30" by 40" painting titled "Cape Mudge Lighthouse" to organizers of the 2010 B.C. Seniors Games.  The subject of the colourful painting is instantly recognizable in both host communities as the iconic sentinel standing guard over the south end of Quadra Island.

Games participants and local residents can purchase a raffle ticket for a chance to win an original oil painting valued at more than $2,000. Tickets cost just $10, and only 2,000 have been printed. The winning ticket will be drawn on September 17.
